Little Contrasts

Why We Prefer Printing

Why we recommend paper over screens for babies.

We offer a free screen viewer for convenience, but for regular use we strongly recommend printing our PDFs. Here's why:

PaperScreen
  • No Blue Light

Screen use in the evening is linked to poorer sleep, and screen light is one suspected reason. A printed card doesn't glow.

  • Made for Sharing

Babies learn from people. The WHO encourages reading and storytelling with a caregiver, and in one study toddlers learned more words from a parent than from a month of watching a baby DVD.

  • Safe to Touch

Babies grab everything. Laminated printouts are durable, wipeable, and won't break if dropped — just keep an eye on corners once everything goes in the mouth.

  • No Battery Needed

Print once, use them wherever you play together — the play mat, the stroller, the car seat, always with you there. No charging, no Wi-Fi, no hassle.

  • Zero Screen Time

The World Health Organization recommends no screen time at all for babies under one. Printed patterns add none.
